I am a research analyst with Mercator Advisory Group. full-time entrepreneur. I coach as part of my portfolio.
It is something I believe in passionately. I am CMO of Payment
Pathways, Inc. I am on the board of DigiFlite.
I am a Certified Professional Co-active Coach (CPCC). I completed the Coaches Training Institute's Leadership program in June of 2003 and have coached since September 2001.
Personal Specs
I am 53. Nancy and I married in 1980. We have two nearly adult daughters in college. Nancy is the family educator at Kerem Shalom.
I've lived in Boston, New Brunswick, Canada, in the out island
wilderness of the Bahamas, rural New Hampshire, and western
South Dakota. Today, we live in Acton, Massachusetts.
I have a B.S. in biology from Tufts University with further
studies in computer science, psychology, organizational development
and economics since graduation.
Work History
(the stuff that doesn't show up on the typical resume)
My work experience is broad. I worked as a product
manager within a Fortune 500 company, most of my working life
has been with small companies or as an entrepreneur.
During 2001-2006 I worked as a professional executive coach as Climbing Trees coaching. I also worked with my friend Lew Hollerbach on DigiFlite, an aviation training software and development company.
I was with Aberdeen Group, an IT market research firm, as
VP and Managing Director of its telecommunications practice,
between 1999 and 2002.
For five years, I was a builder of passive solar homes, an
installer of active solar heating systems and a cabinet maker.
For the last 20 years, I have worked in information technologies.
I have been a software development manager. I have worked
in sales as an account exec. I have installed local area networks
and built PCs. With three partners, I build an Internet Service
Provider (ISP) business that we sold in the Spring of 2001.
As a volunteer, I have served on the boards of civic and
religious groups. I am particularly proud to have been on
the board of directors of Rapid City Regional Hospital, a
tertiary care center serving communities in South Dakota,
Wyoming, Montana, North Dakota and Nebraska.
I am on the board of directors of the Accelerated Cure Project for Multiple Sclerosis. We have raised over
$150,000 for Accelerated Cure through the Anna
Peabody Fund.
R&R
For fun, I climb trees. Nancy and I play folk music. We used to be in a contemporary
folk band playing heavily Celtic-flavored world music. We
canoe the Concord, Sudbury, and Assabet Rivers as well as
the waters of Thoreau's Walden Pond. And, most of all, love
to be with dear friends and family around our kitchen table.
What's This About Climbing Trees?
No, I don't coach you to climb trees (although tree climbing
is a personal passion). Climbing Trees is a metaphor -- for
the exhilaration and work of moving higher, exploring and
seeing beyond boundaries, for climbing into the strongest limbs of the Tree of Life, what I wish for us all.
